Ricoh UK Products Ltd (RPL) is delighted to share that the business has been shortlisted as a regional finalist in the Make UK Manufacturing Awards 2024.

The shortlisting is for the ‘Manufacturing Matters’ category in the Midlands & East region.

RPL has been recognised for its strong corporate philosophy, coupled with pioneering initiatives in sustainability, community support, employee wellbeing and innovation.

By their own admission, Make UK states: “Across the UK, manufacturers of all sizes are doing amazing things each day. Our awards and competitions put the spotlight firmly on their achievements.

“This year, we are specifically focussed on manufacturing companies who can demonstrate a positive societal impact as a result of their practices and/or products. We are looking for inspiring stories from UK manufacturers who have supported or enhanced their local community, network, or environment.”

A particular highlight of RPL’s nomination included the business’ internal Think Act Save campaign; Launched in response to the cost-of-living challenges and global energy crisis, RPL initially launched the campaign in 2022, focusing on energy conservation, wellbeing and cost savings both at home and in the workplace.

This initiative, now embedded into the culture of RPL, began with bi-weekly videos of energy-saving tips, covering practical advice on topics such as washing clothes, heating homes, and cooking more efficiently. The campaign not only empowered hundreds of employees with knowledge but also fostered the ever-growing culture of sustainability within the organisation.

In addition, other impactful initiatives featured Miles 4 Smiles (converting ‘moved miles’ into funds for local charities) exemplifying a commitment to community health and wellbeing, Festive Thrift Shops, the formal launch of a Wellbeing Champions programme, and RPL’s accelerated timeline to achieve Net Zero Green Houses Gas (GHGs) emissions by 2030.

The nomination also demonstrated the agility of RPL following the Covid-19 pandemic, the importance of Employee Engagement and Recognition, and a clear vision for the future – supported by a Three Ps’ balance: Prosperity (economic activities), People (society) & Planet (environment).

Winners will be announced at the Make UK Regional Dinner on the evening of Wednesday 30 October, at Warwick University, Coventry.

A spokesperson for Make UK said: “The awards are a great opportunity to network with the best in manufacturing and most importantly, celebrate your success.

“On behalf of Make UK and the judges, congratulations on being shortlisted as a regional finalist for this award. The judges have been impressed with the high standard of entries received and your company should be very proud of your achievement.”

Make UK champions and celebrates British manufacturing and manufacturers. Working with its customers and partners, the organisation provides a platform for the evolution of UK manufacturing.
